Our exclusive tour “Egon Schiele Private” shows the artist from a very personal side. We begin with his childhood, take a look at the rebellious schoolboy and the youngest art student of his time, and discover original interviews with his sisters, who tell us about Schiele's creative actions—actions that were considered provocative in his days.

You will learn more about the dark phases in his life and his experiences during the war years, which brings us closer to Schiele as a person. These unique insights may also open up new perspectives on his iconic works of art.

The narrative is provided by art historian Alessandra Comini, who began tracing Egon Schiele's footsteps back in the 1960s. She visited relatives and companions of the artist who were still alive and conducted insightful interviews that still provide a deep insight into Schiele's life and work today.

During the tour, you will experience Egon Schiele not only as an artist, but also as a person. In our “treasure chamber,” you will also have the opportunity to discover a small but specially selected collection of original works of art.

This year, the special exhibition in the treasure chamber is dedicated to the rivalry between Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka. It offers a fascinating insight into the artistic and personal tensions between these two exceptional artists.
